Lip Fillers

Lip enhancement or augmentation treatment can help to improve thin lips as well as ageing skin around the lips and mouth area.  We devise a personalised treatment plan that will give you the best results using dermal filler.  Whether you are looking for an anti-ageing or beauty-enhancing treatment, we focus on achieving a natural appearance, yet still gaining a fuller more pronounced lip.

There are many benefits to applying dermal filler in the lip area. Lips that start to form lines (because of the natural ageing process) can contribute to a prematurely old appearance; sagging and the deterioration of the lips’ definition can likewise make one look much older than one’s actual age. This is where dermal filler can help to improve these changes.

What are lip fillers and Are lip fillers safe?

Today’s sophisticated fillers are made of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a substance that’s found naturally in the body. It’s a pretty useful beauty ingredient because it’s able to hold up to 1,000 times its own weight in water. This is the reason why you’ll find it up front and centre on the back of your skincare products. In a cream, it can only do so much because it can’t penetrate the outer layers of your skin to reach a depth where it can have an instant and noticeable impact. Some brands are using low molecular weight HA, to try and force it deeper into the skin, but even that can only do so much. That’s where the needle comes in.

HA is something that our body produces – although it is in lesser quantities as we age – it’s happily accepted, and once injected into the skin it’s easily broken down over a period of months. It’s far from permanent; which in itself is reassuring. And it’s not only used in the lips; it can plump out wrinkles, restore volume to cheeks and eradicate those vertical lines at the side of your mouth.

Lip fillers are an aesthetic treatment, it is incredibly important to only allow a qualified, reputable, medical professional to carry out your treatment. Researching your doctor is key!

Swiss Care Clinic are regulated by the care quality commission and our services are provided by highly qualified doctors who specialise in aesthetic medicine.

What to expect in your consultation?
This is your opportunity to best explain your issues and your expectations.

The ‘ideal’ ratio for lips is one-third/two-thirds with the bottom lip being the fullest. Our doctors will explain this and determine where the product should be applied to achieve the best benefits and results for you. Our bespoke lip chart (far right) is there to further help you explain the exact look that you desire. During your consultation you are able to ask to see before and after photographs of our patients. We will even show short video clips of performing the treatment, if asked, so you can see the improvements and results. Our aim in our consultations is for you to feel reassured and for both patient and doctor to fully understand each other before carrying out a treatment.

Technique: Relates to where the doctor will inject, reference diagram above or choose one of our signiture styles (right) to make your
consultations clearer for both you and the doctor.

Reversibility: It is always ensuring to know that Hyaluronic Acid can be disolved if necessary.

Are lip fillers painful?
Now that depends, it shouldn’t be any more uncomfortable than getting your eyebrows threaded. Seriously! At swiss care clinic we use an ice stick, which numbs the area instantly and helps to reduce swelling and bruising. Numbing cream can also be applied to the area for more comfort. There is even a dose of the painkiller lidocaine mixed in with the HA in the syringe – which gets to work as soon as it’s in your skin.

Princess® injectable treatments are non-surgical, granting minimal recovery time and ensuring immediate, natural-looking results. Depending on your skin and individual wishes, the practitioner will choose the most suitable product from the Princess® range to meet your needs and expectations. Due to the resemblance of the hyaluronic acid used in Princess® to the naturally occurring substance in the human body, no preliminary allergy testing is necessary. The procedure is quick and easy. The injections themselves may only take about 15 to 30 minutes. You will be able to return to your daily activities immediately afterwards.

Thanks to the high safety profile and tolerance of Princess® gels in the skin, you will be typically able to return to daily activities instantly after the aesthetic treatment. However, you may experience some post-treatment discomfort such as temporary tenderness, redness, swelling or bruising on the injected area. These symptoms are usually mild to moderate and disappear on their own in less than 7 days. You can apply an ice pack for a brief period on the injection site to help soothe any swelling.

The results of an aesthetic treatment with Princess® Fillers are long lasting, but not permanent. Depending on the product used, the injection area treated and the individual dispositions of your skin, the results can last for several months up to a year.

In order to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site, avoid any medications such as anti–coagulants and anti–inflammatories, that can prolong bleeding, the week before receiving the treatment. After the injection you should not apply any make-up for 12 hours and avoid sunbathing or high temperatures for one week. Ask your healthcare professional what he or she recommends.

Treatments with Princess® must not be used for:

  • patients who tend to develop hypertrophic scarring
  • patients with a history of auto–immune disease or who are receiving immune therapy
  • patients who are known to be hypersensitive to hyaluronic acid
  • women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • patients under 18 years
  • areas presenting cutaneous, inflammatory or infectious processes

Certain products in the Teosyal® range are now delivered with 25g Ultra Thin Wall needles.

  • Reduction from 20% to 50% of needed force to inject Teosyal dermal filler implants compare to current needles, meaning more comfort for the practitioner.
  • Use of a 27G needle with Teosyal Ultra Deep instead of current 25G, which reduces the patient trauma during the injection.
  • Excellent skin penetration thanks to the double bevel design of the extremity and the lubrication of the needles.
  • Teosyal® was launched in the UK in 2005.

    Teosyal Kiss (27G½)
25mg/ml of HA, 2 x 1ml syringes per box.  Ultra Thin Wall Needles which offers an injection comfort similar to standard 25G needle.

Introducing a Hyaluronic Acid (HA) facial filler, such as Juvéderm® adds subtle volume for fuller, natural-looking lips.

Getting the lips you’ll love is achievable. With enhancements you can turn asymmetrical lips into what you want by adding volume to a thinner area to create a more symmetrical look. Or maybe you just want fuller lips? Then adding a filler under the skin will plump them out to create more lip fullness and definition.

With every smile and word, lines form around the mouth, and over time these lines can become permanent wrinkles. Whether you’re worried about marionette lines; the lines from the corner of your lips down to your chin, or smile lines, Juvéderm® can be injected directly into them to ease their appearance and smooth them out.

If you’re looking to enhance your lips, or just to restore a little fullness, your physician can create a customised treatment plan that brings out the best in your face, whilst making sure the results are natural-looking. Take a look through treatment results to see how facial fillers can give you something to smile about.
